The Power of Thankfulness

Maybe part of revival being held back — joy and excitement being absent in much of the church and the church not really affecting the world around us —maybe some of that is simply because of our thankfulness level. We’ve taken what Jesus did for us for granted. It’s become old news.
It’s become just a part of our story.”

Sermon starts at 1:32

5:00
“It’s something that we see all throughout scripture. This exhortation to rejoice, to be glad, to be thankful, to give thanks, to praise, and to worship. It’s really hard to truly worship God if we’re not thankful. It really is like we can worship him for who he is, but that’s where it ends because there’s nothing else to worship for if we’re not thankful. And the other side is also true. If we’re if we’re not taught to appreciate life, then we take it for granted.

7:35
“Psalm 100. We’re just going to read the whole thing. So, starting in verse one:

Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands.
Serve the Lord with gladness.
Come before his presence with singing.
Know that the Lord, he is God.
It is he who has made us and not we ourselves.
We are his people and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving
and into his courts with praise.
Be thankful to him and bless his name.
For the Lord is good, his mercy is everlasting,
and his truth endures to all generations.”

10:33

“We’ve all been there. It’s no different for the one preaching than the one sitting in the seats. We’ve all been there. Are we thankful that we get to be here? Because there’s other places that don’t get to do this without dying.

Are we thankful that we get to join together, that we’re not alone in the faith? Are we thankful that we get to do this and be refreshed every week with a company of believers? Like, are we are we thankful to be here? Because thankfulness is part of the whole worship experience or it’s supposed to be.”
